Mission

In recent years, "Food Safety and Confidence" have become a great concern in many countries including Japan. Food safety depends on science, whereas food confidence is promoted by the distribution of related information, emergency management and compliance with the law.

This center will be continuously engaged in research and education on food safety under close collaboration with national and international organizations, and thereby the center is expected not only to contribute the research field but also to provide scientific information to the people, government and private sector. The center also aims to develop leaders with high levels of knowledge and skill through the training of students from Asia as well as businesspersons.

  1. Research on food safety assessment, control and economy
  2. Research on biological effects and utilization of food constituents
  3. Research on biological effects and control of food contaminants
  4. Research on development of functional foods and low risk foods
  5. Training and education for researchers, administrative officials and other experts in food safety
